Because Hunger Doesn’t Take a Summer Break.

What Is The Summer Harvest Program?

Summer Harvest, Inc. is a nonprofit organization established to combat childhood hunger and food insecurity, with a particular focus on underserved rural communities across the Southern United States. The organization was founded on the belief that geography, infrastructure limitations, or lack of local capacity should never prevent children from accessing nutritious food.

Summer Harvest works to address childhood hunger through multiple strategies, including community partnerships, education, logistics support, and participation in federal nutrition assistance programs. Participation in USDA programs such as the Summer Food Service

Program (SFSP) and, where appropriate, the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is one important way Summer Harvest advances its mission, but it is not the organization’s sole purpose.

The organization is designed to serve as a reliable, compliant, and mission-driven partner to state agencies and local communities in expanding access to meals for eligible children, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
